Prosser Pines County Nature Preserve
This nature preserve is said to be ?one of the most impressive places on Long Island to experience an evergreen ?forest cathedral'? of white pines. Prosser Pines is one of the oldest surviving plantations in the eastern United States. They were planted in 1812 from seedlings that came from Quebec, Canada in 1759. Hurricanes have blown down many of the original pines, but some still stand and other pines have naturally replaced those. It is located just across the street from Cathedral Pines County Park, with the same manager overseeing both sites.
Middle Island

Today, Middle Island is built up with homes, churches, co-op apartment complexes, condominiums, car dealerships, discount stores, and small businesses. Artist Lake is located nearby, named in hopes that artists would settle near the lake.
