New York City Car Rentals and the New York Mets
The New York Mets are a baseball team in the MLB based in Flushing, New York (a part of Queens). With a New York City car rental it is very easy to go see a game. They are part of the National League, whereas the other New York-based team, the Yankees, plays for the American division.
Origins
When the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Giants left New York for California in 1957, there was no longer a baseball team in the largest city in the United States. Two years later, William Shea announced the formation of the formation of a third baseball league, the Continental League. After one year, Shea made a deal to deal with the established leagues, and four new franchises were created.
When the Mets began to play in 1962. they were the lovable losers until the end of the 1968 season. Then in 1969, after a slow start, the Mets went on to win a three-game sweep against the Atlanta Braves. This seemed to do something to their confidence, because the Mets continued to win and even won the World Series that year. This is one of baseball history's great turnarounds, giving hope to underdogs, also-rans and lost causes everywhere. It wasn't until 1986 that the Mets went on again to win a World Series.

Shea Stadium
This stadium hosted the world's first stadium concert, featuring the Beatles on August 15, 1965. But it is better known as the location of the Mets games. It is said to be one of the loudest stadiums in the country because it is near LaGuardia Airport and planes fly over a lot.
In June 2005 plans for a new stadium were announced to be built in Willets Point Queens. Construction is expected to be started when the total costs have been worked out and when it is decided who will pay what. As of right now, Shea Stadium is the sixth oldest stadium among the 30 used in Major League Baseball.
Flushing is an interesting place to visit with your New York City car rental as well.
