Produced in the United States and Australia as a full size car with a font wheel drive four door sedan is the Toyota Avalon. The larger size Toyota Avalon was what replaced the 1992 upper level midsize Toyota Cressida. The very first Toyota Avalon ever produced was on February 21, 1994 on the assembly line at Georgetown, Kentucky. 2nd Generation Toyota Avalons would be released in 1999 in the United States and Japan. However, the first generation Toyota Avalons where still in production in Australia. "Mark III" phase is what the Toyota Company is now calling the first generation Australian Toyota Avalon. In 2004, the Australian Toyota Avalon received a minor "facelift" (although it is actually based on the same care released in the United States in 1995). IN July 2005, the production of the Toyota Avalon was halted and is soon to be replaced with a new vehicle named the Aurion to better compete in the large vehicle market along with the Holden Commodore and the Ford Falcon. This vehicle is expected to go on sale in November 2006.
The first generation (1995 to 1999)
Built in the same plant as the Toyota Camry, its position was actually higher then the Toyota Camry, becoming Toyota's flagship. The Toyota Avalon initially had a 3.0 L V6 engine with 192 hp and 210 ft lbf of torque. In 1998, minor changes where made including the updating of the hp to 200 and an increase of torque to 214 ft lbf.
The second generation (2000 to 2004)
( We The Carry 2007 Model )
For the second generation Toyota Avalon everything was bigger and better. Although the Toyota Avalon still had the 3.0 L V6 (with 210 hp and 220 ft lbf of torque), its size was becoming more similar to the Toyota Camry. The second generation Toyota Avalon was also released in Japan and was called the Toyota Pronard, however due to its poor sales the Toyota Pronard was discontinued. The Toyota Avalon featured a built in 115V AC power inverter as well as two trimlines: the Basic XL and the Upscale XLS.
The third generation (2005 to present)
A complete redesign to the former Toyota Avalon generations, the 2005 Toyota Avalon is Toyota's most luxurious sedan model. The Toyota Avalon features a 3.5 L 280 hp V6 engine and a 2GR - FE. The new Toyota Avalon which was first introduced at the 2005 North American International Auto Show shares the same engine as the Lexus ES350. The 2005 model strays from its more conservative style of past generation for something a little more stylish and edgy. It comes available in XL, Touring, XLS, and Limited trim levels.
Also, because of the new specifications made by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) the power of the Toyota Avalon has dropped to 268 hp and torque to 248 ft lbf. You find a keyless remote start for the Limited models and expanded stability control in both the XL and Touring models.
