Jones Beach State Park is known for it's swimming off the shores of Wantagh. There are 6.5 miles of beachfront along the ocean as well as one-half mile along the bay for stillwater bathing and two swimming pools. A Van Rental will get you to the beach for a day of fun.

At the west end of the park, there is great surf fishing, a boat basin, and undeveloped areas that are home to birds and native plants. At the end of July there is a weekend volleyball tournament held by Vytra Health Plans.
Finally, at the end of August there is a "I Fish NY Salt Water Clinic". Open to anyone age 10 or older, you can come here with your Van Rental to learn fishing techniques, how to tackle, ethics, regulations, fish biology, seafood safety, and even filet techniques. It take place for most of the day.
