Although they did not go to the playoffs that year, the 1987-1988 season was much better for the Knicks. In 1992, 1993, and 1994 the Knicks won championships with Ewing on the team. They were quite a strong team with a lot of energy. After the 1999-2000 season, Ewing left the Knicks and a new era began.
Today the Knicks have one of the highest payrolls in the NBA, but one of the worst teams. They are generally seen as a poorly run team, being the butt of many jokes on late night television.
