NYC tri-state area and S Florida
Unveiled in 2008 under the direction of the Florida Department of
Health, the Tobacco Free Florida campaign seeks to decrease the
number of tobacco users in the state of Florida through efforts
aimed at both preventing nonusers from starting to use tobacco and
encouraging current users to quit. These efforts are funded by money
derived from court settlements against major tobacco companies, and
include executions in the realm of
Advertising, Public Relations, Interactive, Guerilla Media, Event
Media, Sponsored Promotions and more.
It is our hope that one day every Floridian might be free of the
hazards of tobacco, and that we all may eventually live in the
paradise that our name implies- a truly Tobacco Free Florida.
Problem Tobacco Free Florida promoted its anti-smoking program with the "i Care.
i Don't Smoke" campaign and embarked on a mission to establish prevention
programs and raise awareness, especially among the adolescent demographic.
Harmful facts of what smoking does to the body had been exhausted; Tobacco
Free Florida was faced with the challenge of communicating the anti-smoking
message to middle-school students in a way that would prevent them from ever
touching a cigarette. The solution lay in an ashtray-flavored Peel ‘n Taste®
strip! Yes, the flavor strip would taste just as foul as it sounds, with the
label warning, "This product may cause nausea, offensive breath
and loss of taste for several hours. (A lot like smoking a
cigarette.)"
Solution Ashtray-flavored Peel ‘n Taste® strips were affixed to a handout that
was distributed at many organizationally-supported prevention programs
through the months of March, April and May of 2008.
The Zimmerman Agency Wins Florida's $17 Million Anti-Smoking Campaign TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Jan. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The Florida Department of
Health has awarded the $17 million Florida Tobacco Prevention account to The
Zimmerman Agency, Tallahassee-based advertising, public relations and
interactive firm. The campaign is among the largest marketing contracts for
the state, and gained support from a voter referendum to increase anti-tobacco
related programs.
The objective of the anti-smoking program is to educate
Floridians and
Florida business owners on the negative effects of tobacco through four
targeted, distinctive efforts including: smoke tobacco prevention, smokeless
tobacco prevention, cessation and secondhand smoke.
As part of the extensive agency review process, The Zimmerman
Agency
presented a multi-faceted campaign applying the full power of all disciplines
in the agency. Speculative creative was presented including online and offline
executions, as well as targeted promotional and public relations efforts.
Social networking programs against behavioral targeting were vital program
components while activation and optimization provided the core of the campaign
strategy.
"Like it or not, smoking affects every person that lives and
breathes in
the state of Florida," says Curtis Zimmerman, president of The Zimmerman
Agency. "We don't advocate preaching to smokers -- they don't want to hear it
-- but we will make a connection between smokers and the affects of smoking,
and let the outcome make the greatest impact."
The marketing campaign is scheduled to be unveiled and launch
during the
Super Bowl in key Florida media markets. Initial executions of the campaign
will appear in the first quarter of 2008. In addition to print, television and
outdoor advertising, the effort includes heavy use of the Internet and
additional awareness through public relations, promotions and events.
The new account brings agency billings to $130 million
annually.
Additional agency accounts include The Ritz-Carlton Club and Residences,
Yachts of Seabourn, Aflac, Novus Jets, Club Med and the British Virgin
