Every year our Church takes a relatively small group of people to a place where another Church needs a little help with some task or ministry. Working out the logistics, the airline flight, the lodging, the van rental and meal service and being prepared to provide the needed help is a job that begins a year or more in advance.

Our team usually consists of fifteen to twenty people, from teen-agers, who don’t get bent over sleeping bags on the floor, to “fully mature” adults who want everything from plenty of room in the vehicles to luxury accommodations at night. Finding the middle ground where everyone can be reasonably happy is the key to a successful adventure.

One thing we always do is provide plenty of sight-seeing and exciting activities away from the work. If, for example, we are spending a week at a small Church in Eastport, Maryland, you can be sure we will take time to tour the Naval Academy, ride a boat in the Annapolis harbor, and make a full-day side trip to the Nation’s Capitol. And whether we drive or take the train, to D. C., there is plenty of time to relax, and restore our calm for the return to work.
