Mini Cooper Is The Perfect Fit
What’s not to like? If you are like me you want a car that looks expensive and isn’t, runs like a sports car, but uses fuel like a motorcycle and has a safety rating high in the numbers. I suggest you rent one for a week-end, drive it as much as you can in as many tight places as you can, and see if you don’t fall in love.
I am talking, of course, about the Mini-Cooper. Here is a front-wheel drive little beauty that comes in either a two-door hatchback or a two-door soft-top convertible bodystyle. It’s got a 1.6-liter 16-valve inline four-cylinder engine that will produce 118-hp and it changes gears with a six-speed manual box or optional six-speed automatic. Would you believe it’s got six airbags in the hatchback model and four on the convertible? I haven’t told you about the ABS, and Electronic Brake Distribution, Xenon headlights, Park Distance Control, stability control, rain sensing wipers and front and rear fog lights if you want them.
My wife and I were on a trip to upstate New York a couple of months ago, and we decided to rent one just for the heck of it. From the time I picked it up, till the very moment I returned it, I was just ecstatic. She talked me into letting her drive, so she got in about twelve miles as well. The rest of the time it was all I could do to not stay in it all the time.
Now, can you believe that the invoice price is around 16-19k? Dealers are going to try to get more, but you do know how to work a deal, right? You’re going to get somewhere over 30 mpg on the road, and it doesn’t drop off much in town. I even talked with the rental agency about buying one from them (clean, low mileage, well cared for), and that might be a possibility for you. By the way, they come with a 48 month, 50,000 mile warranty.
Again, what’s not to like? I’ve got one ordered - my way. My dealer made me an offer I couldn’t refuse.
