Walt Disney World is the most visited theme park in the world. At over 25,000 acres, the park houses four theme parks (Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios), two waterparks (Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon) and 14 themed resorts. You’ll want to plan ahead if you’re going to enter the World. With so much to see and do, it can be overwhelming without a game plan in place.
If you’re not in Orlando to experience Walt Disney World, you can still make a trip to Downtown Disney for entertainment, shopping, dining and nightlife. Take a break from the theme parks one day and drive a rental car to the Orlando Science Center. The center features hundreds of hands-on exhibits, and the NatureWorks area educates visitors about coral reefs, salt marshes and swamps of central Florida. A great learning experience for all ages.
Located about an hour east of Orlando, you can rent a car and visit the Kennedy Space Center, home to a major NASA launch site. While you’re there, check out an IMAX film, visit the re-created rocket launch control room, or take a spin in the space flight simulator.
You’ll definitely need to rent a car to drive from Orlando to Tampa Bay, but Busch Gardens is worth the drive. Thrilling rollercoasters and an Africa safari experience make this a trip you won’t forget. The park also offers animal exhibits, rides, a river expedition and more.
Drive to Universal Orlando and you can experience the adventurous thrill rides and attractions at Islands of Adventure. The park brings your favorite cartoons and comic book characters to life. For a behind the scenes look at movies, Universal Studios Florida might be a perfect stop. The movie and TV based theme park allows you to be the star as you get into the action in your favorite movies.
