Exotic Car Rentals and Forest Park
Amongst the tall skyscrapers of New York City, exotic car rental travellers will find some of the most marvellous parks in the U.S. including Forest Park in Queens, New York.
With over 538 acres of trees and fields, Forest Park is the third largest park in Queens and has become known as being the jewel of Queens. Within Forest Park is the Overlook, the administration building for Queens Parks, and Oak Ridge, the former golf course clubhouse and current administration building for Forest Park. Forest Park also offers a wide array of recreational facilities, such as the George Seuffert, Sr., Bandshell, the Carousel, the Bridle Path, tennis courts, playgrounds, and Victory Field. Annual events such as the Halloween Walk, the Victorian Christmas, Nature Trails Day, orienteering and battle reenactments draw the participation of the surrounding neighborhoods of Kew Gardens, Woodhaven, Richmond Hill, Forest Hills, and Glendale.
History of Forest Park
The History of Forest Park dates back to 1895 when officials of Brooklyn's western district began to search for a place to develop a recreational facility for their residents who were living in greatly overcrowded conditions. Heavily forested and filled with song birds, rabbits and quail, the park offered magnificent views of the Long Island Sound and Atlantic Ocean from its high hills. The original aim was to purchase 500 acres of land that would connect to a series of "greenbelts" and extend from the Atlantic Ocean to the Long Island Sound. The site selected for the new park was a large wooded area, located in Queens County. On August 9, 1895, the first parcel of land in what would later become Forest Park was purchased.
Keep Busy at Forest Park
If you are worried about things to keep you busy during your exotic car rental visit to the park, then you have nothing to worry about! Make your way to the western side of the park which is action packed with activities for the whole family including: the Victory Field Sports Complex where you will find a running track, handball courts and a baseball field. There is also the Daniel C. Mueller Carousel, which offers an enchanting wooden carousel ride for children. And for the golf enthusiasts out there, you don't have to give up your time on the course during your time away in your exotic car rental because Forest Park offers an 18-hole, par 70 course on the western perimeter of the grounds.
Be sure to leave time during your exotic car rental stay, to check out the eastern side of the park, which is where you will find a seemingly endless path of trees and trails. Forest Park Drive for example is two miles of tree-lined forest, which is perfect for taking a stroll, biking or skating. There are also three nature trails on the eastern side, as well as seven miles of bridle paths and two private stables where you can take a horseback ride!
