New York City Car Rentals and the New York Rangers

The New York Rangers are a professional hockey team based in New York City for the NHL. Founded in 1926, they place at Madison Square Garden, a location very easy to get to with your New York City car rental or by subway. Their colors are red, white, and blue. The last time they won the Stanley Cup was in 1994. They were one of the NHL's original six franchises with the Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, and Toronto Maple Leafs. Their main rivals are the New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils, Philadelphia Flyers, and Boston Bruins. Franchise History

The franchise was given to Tex Rickard in 1926 with the original name the "New York Americans". However, they quickly became known as "Tex's Rangers" and the name just stuck. In only their second year, the team won the best of five series 3 games to 2 to win the Stanley Cup. This was a great victory for the team. Fast-forward to the establishment of the NHL. In 1968 the team moved venues to Madison Square Garden and made the playoffs for the first time in five years. In the mid-1970s, hockey legend Phil Esposito joined the team. The team was very competitive throughout the 1970s and 1980s, although they never did win the Stanley cup. In the 1990s they managed to get hockey legend Wayne Gretzky to join the team. They managed to pull of a Stanley Cup victory in 1994, but the stars of the team were aging and needed to be replaced with younger players.

Madison Square Garden is located on Seventh Avenue between 31st and 33rd Streets. If you are coming with your New York City car rental, take any of the bridges, tunnels, or road from outside Manhattan. There is parking at 230 West 31st Street, 325 West 34th Street, and 441 9th Avenue. It might be easier to take the subway or train. This way you do not have to worry about parking your New York City car rental. The train will take you right to Penn Station at Madison Square Garden. Or, take the 1, 2, or 3 (Seventh Avenue Lines), A, C or E (Eighth Avenue Subway) to 34th Street/Penn Station. There is also B, D, F, N, Q, R or Path to 34th Street/Avenue of the Americas (one block walk).
