History
Nassau County originally contained two towns – Hempstead and Oyster Bay. The American Revolution split the town of Hempstead between the pro-revolutionists and the royalists. This site was know as the “Summer White House” for this former president, Nobel Prize winner, and recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor.
