Golf
Bethpage State Park was the site of the 2002 U.S. Open was among Golf Digest's 100 Greatest Courses in 2005 for their Black Course. Located in Farmingdale, there are five courses offered to golfers, the earliest dating back to 1932. The offer lessons, clinics, a practice putting green, driving range, and Club House with lockers, showers, a lounge, and restaurant. The Black Course is the most difficult course with one of the highest slope rating in the northeast. It also features narrow fairways, high rounds, well-placed bunkers, and small greens to make it more difficult. In addition to golf, visitors to the park may utilize the tennis courts, hiking trails, bridle path, picnic area, and there are weekly polo matches from mid-June through mid-October.  Getting to New York City
Manhattan is only about hour away from Melville and easy to get to from your Long Island hotel. The I-495 or the Long Island Expressway will take you straight into the city where you can enjoy the many attractions, shows, and restaurants. Also, New Jersey is just across the Hudson River.
